Tank cleaner for liquor brewery facility
The daily cleaning of brewery tanks is essential to uphold hygiene standards and to maintain a consistent result in flavour and quality. However, breweries often face the challenges of a lot of manual labour going into the cleaning process of brewery tanks. By automizing the tank cleaning process, a lot of time can be saved for other tasks and the cleaning result will always be the same.
The problem
A liquor brewing facility was facing problems with its daily cleaning of brewing tanks. One employee would spend an average of 30 minutes on cleaning one of the twenty 4 x 5 meter tanks, which led up to more than 10 hours a week. In addition, the cleaning process involved safety hazards, such as cleaning from the top of the tanks.
The solution
After consulting with the engineers at Ikeuchi, they discovered that a pump with a discharge pressure of 1.0 MPa was available. Based on this, Ikeuchi selected and proposed a 3D rotating tank cleaning nozzle capable of automatically and thoroughly cleaning the tank’s interior surfaces when connected to the pump. The brewery carried out some cleaning tests and were pleased with the effective results.
The result
After automating the time-consuming daily cleaning of brewery tanks, the brewery removed the need to have a dedicated operator spend 1.5 to 2 hours daily on the task. This allowed time for this operator to be reallocated to other important duties in the brewery. Simultaneously, hazardous high-altitude work was avoided, significantly enhancing workplace safety. The brewery now plans to expand this solution to other facilities with similar processes.
