CyanX was established in 2005 by  Yan Stevenson (now retired) and Richard Mawson. The company currently has six employees and is located in Leeds in West Yorkshire, in the UK.

What are your main services/ products?

CyanX was established  as a truly independent company, with the aim of providing the printing industry with a choice of quality equipment and consumable products, sourced from reliable manufacturers. From these early days, when we concentrated mainly on specialised filters for R.O. systems, then the addition of“Grafix UK”, our product portfolio has increased to such an extent that we have moved premises twice since then to accommodate our controlled expansion.

There have been many changes as we have had to adapt to extremely difficult trading conditions, but our initial philosophy of “quality products backed by professional after sales support” remains at the core of everything we do. When well respected global suppliers began to knock on our door rather than us knocking on theirs, that’s when we knew we were doing something right. We are now expanding into new markets but continue to maintain our quality standard for our customers as this is vital for continued success. CyanX, with our distinctive X branding can be seen in pressrooms throughout the UK, Europe and much further afield. which is testimony to our original concept.

When did you become a distributor of Ikeuchi and why?

We worked with Humidification system suppliers for a past employer. When we first founded Cyanx we spoke to several suppliers but found that service and communication was poor. We first met Ikeuchi at Drupa 2008 but nothing happened until 2009 when Ikeuchi Europe contacted us and the relationship has been going since then.

How did you see the printing industry change in the past 10 years?

Commercial Printing has been in decline for several years now, Packaging Printing is still very strong especially when the big companies are buying out their competitors or merging.

What are the competitive advantages of CyanX?

Cyanx offer premium products at a competitive price and is committed to developing our portfolio of customer solutions. We can supply and install, then service and maintain, value-adding equipment to make your business efficient, sustainable and profitable because after all, your success is our success.

What was one of the most interesting projects you have worked on?

Two of our Ikeuchi installations have nothing to do with print. One of the largest systems is installed in an electronics manufacturer site who supply speedometers to the car and motorcycle industry. One of the smallest installations is on a medical
paste production line. The special paste is sealed into test tubes, which are used during a blood testing process.

In the coming years, CyanX will continue to serve the printing industry in the UK and Ireland while also expanding into related industries where similar services are needed.
